Well, we all have problems, don't we? And we've all made mistakes in our
lives. My mother was a big fan of baseball, and Satchel Paige was an
athlete she greatly admired. When I was young she taught me her favorite
quote of his. I embraced that quote it has been with me ever since,
and it has helped me through my darkest hours. He said, "Never let your
head hang down. Never give up and sit and grieve. Find another way. And
don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines."
What that quote has taught me is that we're going to have bad times and
good times. We deal with the bad times the best we can, and embrace the
good times. Life is a gift, and it is ours to enjoy to the fullest.
