Gadget's Continuing Saga

Well, Christmas has come and gone, we survived Y2K, and here we are in a new millenium! I suppose that, with our life expectancy, most of us kitties don't get to live in two different centuries, let alone 2 different milleniums! Wow! How exciting!

I had a very good Christmas, and of course I got everything I wanted....and everything I didn't ask for. I guess I've got Mommy in my back pocket. Giggle! Mommy, Daddy, Andy and Adam went off and left me for 4 days over New Year's, but they left me in the capable and caring hands of our neighbors. They checked on me 3 times a day to make sure I was okay and had everything I needed, and they spent time visiting with me and petting me so I wouldn't worry about my family so much. They were great!

Now that I'm 6 months old, Mommy decided it was time to have me spayed, so that I wouldn't be able to bring more unwanted kitties into the already crowded world we have. I remember what a hard time my birth mommy and I had because we were strays. It was a hard life. I didn't mind the operation at all. My doctor was real good and she and the nurses took real good care of me. My stitches didn't bother me at all, and in 10 days Mommy took me back to the doctor for her to take them out. Piece of cake!

Here are some up-to-date photos Mommy took of me while I was being myself. I don't know why, but a lot of times Mommy is laughing real hard when she takes my picture.

Mommy always sees to it that I have lots of things to keep me amused. I think she feels guilty because I'm an only cat....giggle!

I like to spend hours looking out the window. Mommy's scanner makes a real handy ledge for me to sit up on so I can see out. Besides, when Mommy finishes using it, it's nice and warm! Mommy calls this my cat-scan picture :)

On the first Saturday of each month I get my bath (pronounced "bauth"). Mommy uses a special shampoo that keeps fleas and ticks away and makes my fur all nice, soft and shiny. And it smells pretty too! It's very relaxing :)

"Is this the right way, Mommy?"

Mommy read me this story about a domestic house cat who had a baby African wildcat. Imagine that....a common house cat helping to save an endangered species! I'm so proud of Cayenne and what she did! I know her caregivers must be too!

Well, that's it for now from my little corner of the world. As I get bigger I'm sure Mommy will keep taking pictures of me, and I'll be sure and share them with you. In the meantime, here are some favorite cat quotes of mine. Thanks for coming to visit, it sure was good to see ya, and come back anytime!
