The greatest gift we'll ever see
Is that of blessed eternity
Though in our time 'tween death and birth
Our greatest gift is Mother Earth.

Still, if mankind does not take care
Sweet Mother Earth may not be there
For generations yet to come.
Please, Lord, let not this Earth succumb

To mankind's lack of true concern . . .
Unbridled waste. We must discern
The difference between want and need
The night and day 'tween right and greed.

Oh, Lord, we all could do our part
A second thought could be a start.
A look into our daily use
Of nature's wealth, and man's abuse.

And if we curb our appetite
For ever more, and take delight
In flowing streams and things alive
Perhaps this gift will yet survive.
