My idea of Heaven Is a quiet afternoon Sitting sure in shaded sunlight With the birds somehow in tune The river, running quietly by It's destination known The sound of fish a jumpin' Just to taste the breeze that's blowin' With feet propped up against a rail The dogs asleep nearby No cares, concerns nor heartache No need to fear or lie. My idea of heaven Just a simple, blessed peace Where troubles melt like butter And all petty notions cease. Reward for things we tried to do To make our lives worthwhile A soft and warm embrace from God Each step, a sacred mile. So Heaven, lead this soul to seek This blessed dream of mine And let this wondrous vision Be akin to that of Thine. |
