Shining Star

When I die and those I love
Have gathered at my side
I hope that they can think of me
With tenderness, and pride.
And may God bless you, everyone,
For all you've meant to me
While travelling through this earth below
In search of harmony.

If I could have one final wish
I know that it would be
That all of those I've left behind
Could find a way to see
There is no need for sorrow
If by faith you live your years.
Celebrate my passing now
With only joyous tears.
And as you lay me down to rest
And leave my soul to fly
I ask you to rejoice with me
And strengthen as I die.
My life was good, my feelings strong,
My ways uniquely mine.
So leave me now behind you . . .
Look for my star to shine.

On Friday, May 19, 2000, the world lost a gifted artist. A family lost a loved one. Friends lost a friend. Rich Mullins was a loving, caring gentleman who loved the Lord passionately. This love, he claimed, was the source of his talent as a keyboardist and midi sequencer. He gave all of his talent back to his Maker through his music. A life taken carelessly by another, but his spirit will live on through his music, and his light shall never be snuffed out.
